Lior Eitan
Flute and piccolo

Lior Eitan, one of Israel`s leading flutists, has for many years been active as a soloist and in the chamber music scene. He plays freely on all four members of the flute family - piccolo, flute, alto flute and bass flute – and on many occasions uses all four of them in the same concert. Since 1997 he has devoted most of his time to developing his career as a piccolo soloist. Until now, thirteen works by Israeli composers have been commissioned and dedicated to Lior, who has given their world premiere. He also writes unique arrangements of masterworks by classical composers such as Telemann, Tchaikovsky, Schubert and others. In August 2005 he was invited to participate in the National Flute Association`s annual convention, where he gave a piccolo recital and was the soloist in the American premiere of the Concerto for Piccolo and Orchestra by Israeli–American composer Avner Dorman. Lior is invited to participate in the British Flute Society`s convention in August 2008.
Lior Eitan was born in Israel. He completed his studies with distinction in the Tel Aviv Academy of Music in 1985. In the same year, at age 22, he was appointed principal flutist of the Israel Sinfonietta. Since 1988 he has been solo piccolo with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. As member of the Israel Flute Ensemble, Lior has recorded three CD`s for Centaur records. He recently completed recording a CD for Meridian records, which includes works by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert, arranged for piccolo and guitar.
